How to Organize your Pantry from the Dollar Store

Is your pantry in desperate need of a organization redo? Looking for a functional and inexpensive way to make your pantry look amazing??? Then continue reading!!

The Dollar Tree is heaven for an organizational fanatic on a budget!

The pantry in my home is literally the walk through from the kitchen to the basement stairs. It is not functional at all and lacks space. It was crowded with boxes and bags stacked on top of each other and when you grabbed a snack the entire shelf fell on top of you!

My "Pantry" is the walk way to the basement stairs

I was only willing to spend $50 to make this space more useful. Amazon, Target Walmart had bins but YIKES, not spending that kind of money!  Dollar Tree & Goodwill here I come!!!

TONS of options for a DOLLAR!!!  The stock is constantly changing so if you see something grab it.

I ended up purchasing a bunch large, small, tall ,and stack able bins and those little purple snack containers. I had no idea how I was going to organize it but I knew if I didnt use ALL of them I would find another use. I spent $36.00.

I went home  and PURGED my pantry! I combined items and threw out the nasties that I didn't even know what in there, YUCK!!!! I made labels and TA-DA...
This is how it ended. I'm pretty happy with it!

- Use generalized terms like "snacks" "Breakfast Quickies" so the bins can be interchangeable

Overstock & Big Containers on Top Shelves

    Tips for the pantry-

  •  Instead of stacking extra boxes on top of each other create a shelf/area for overstock bins. This reduces clutter on your shelf and keeps your extras together and within reach

  • Make a list of the items that are almost ALWAYS in your pantry for labeling. For example, my pantry always has: Pasta, Granola Bars, Cereal, Goldfish, and Crasins.  For other bins I use general terms such as " Breakfast Quickes (pop-tarts, instant oatmeal), Toddler Treats (applesauce squeezes, etc), and a the super broad term "Snacks." This makes it easier keeping your pantry organized without having to constantly make labels!

  • Make the most out of your space with wire shelf to double your space. I purchased these at Mendards for $1.69!

  • For Flour, Sugar, Brown Sugar, Baking Soda, etc. Place them at the top of your pantry that way they are accessible but out of the way

  •  I stocked up on the little containers. These are awesome for small snacks, extra pastas, chips.. just about everything. We also use these in our camper and it helps save space!

  •  For the jars I decided to use a small lazy Susan that I had laying around. This works awesome and keeps the jars nice and tidy.

  • Bread wicker basket- Goodwill!! I put our homemade loafs, buns, tortillas, etc in there and it totally saves space.
  • Large Cereal Containers- Goodwill!! Seriously, scoping out Goodwill before any organizing project is a MUST- Saves you $$$$$!
  • Chalk labels & chalk pen- $1 section at Target

I just recently updated my shoe nook that's located by my command center for $5.00! You can see the update here DIY Family Command Center

Now that this project is done, I can start on the next project! Comments and Questions are ALWAYS welcome!

Cheers!
